Moivemaker
I found this tool relatively easy to use after a little practice. This digital tool moves beyond a simple PowerPoint presentation (images) and podcast (audio), as you can do similar things in Moviemaker. Moviemaker further allows the use of editing video recordings, making it more attractive, however, I have never seen any teachers using it. Applying this tool would develop and assist student’s communication of ideas, information and reflection. My video above displays some simple ideas I feel towards the Arts and teaching, I have used it as a communication tool to share my ideas.
Moviemaker would be great to display student’s ideas, information, and learnings. Students could create movies as experts in a field to share and teach other students. I personally like the idea of students learning different genres through the use of Moviemaker as they can create and develop a range of stories, interviews, texts, which are multimodal incorporating the use of ICT. After completion students could use their movies as a reflection tool and conduct a self-assessment on them, which then could be uploaded to a blog.
Moviemaker is a highly versatile tool, however, a little more complicated; younger learners would need high assistance to master it. The downside I can see in using this tool is how easily students could get side tracked by the technology and not focus on the intended learning outcomes. With the range of tools in Moviemaker you could spend hours playing and creating your work, I know I spent hours and lost track of time. High supervision would be needed and set goals to get the most out of this tool.
